Are you hesitant about purchasing lingerie because you're not sure if you will like how it fits? Purchasing intimate apparel online can be intimidating so here are a few tips.
- Take an honest appraisal of your shape and decide what you features you want to draw attention to and what features you would like to camouflage or de-emphasize.
- Measure yourself. Don't rely on numbers like your clothing size or bra size, all manufacturers size their garments a little differently. Measure the fullest part of your bust, the smallest part of your waist and the fullest part of your hips. And be honest, if you're not going to suck in your gut while you're wearing lingerie, don't suck it in to measure. If you fall in between sizes, decide if you like your lingerie a little looser or a little tighter.
- Be sure to read the store's return policy. Some lingerie stores allow no returns, period. Most have some type of return policy, but many items are not allowed to be returned because of their intimate nature. Panties and stockings generally are not returnable. It's best to avoid the inconvenience of a return by doing your homework and asking questions.
To draw attention to the bust, look for something with a plunging neckline or push up pads. There are also several styles that leave the breasts exposed for a very provocative look. Corsets are a good choice, too, and come in a range of styles that can take you from bedroom to boardroom in fabrics from satin to sheer mesh. A corset can slim the waist and flatten the tummy, a big plus for a curvy girl to emphasize an hourglass figure.
If you're slender, a matching bra and panty set or other two piece lingerie outfit can show off a toned torso. The top can range from a loose camisole style or a skimpy bra top with bottoms from the tiniest g-string to cute boyshorts. A two piece set can also shorten the look of a long torso.
Sometimes the fabric makes all the difference. Satin or charmeuse doesn't cling and glides over your curves. Stretch lace is super comfortable and more flattering than you might think, this may be the best choice in fabric if you're looking for something in sleepwear. Stretch mesh is also comfy and usually more sheer than stretch lace.
